projects described:
- PEIR - Personal Environmental Impact Report
- YFD - your.flowingdata
nice quotes:
- we want something more than a spreadsheet of numbers. we want the story in the data.
sections:
- data collection
- make data collection as simple as possible for the user
- accessibility is key
- users will forget if they have to wait
- data storage
- data processing
- data visualization
- make personal data understandable to non-professionals
- data has to be presented in a way that is relatable; it has to be humanized
- think of data visualization as a story. the main character is the user, and we can go two ways. a story of charts and graphs might read a lot like a textbook, however, a story with context, relationships, interactions, patterns and explanations reads a lot like a novel.
